Tribute to Maihar from Jharkhand
Musical Eve...
Baba Alauddin Khan sahib of Maihar is said to have sowed the seeds of SITAR-SAROD JUGALBANDI, which created history through RAVI SHANKAR & ALI AKBAR. The tradition lives on and seems set to enrich the music-world in the hands of KEDIA BROTHERS ( sitarist Mor Mukut and sarod-player Manoj Kumar ) of Jharkhand, who, as toddlers, received blessings of Ali Akbar Khan sahib, assimilated "talim" from him and his sister, Smt Annapurna ji and other senior Gurus. Acknowledged by Sangeet Natak Academy, lauded by connoisseurs & critics for their sterling performances for reputed organizations in India & abroad, the Kedia Brothers - in their success & glory - essentially represent a TRIBUTE to MAIHAR from JHARKHAND.
Weavers Studio Centre for the Arts presents an interactive session featuring SITAR-SAROD JUGALBANDI by the KEDIA BROTHERS - Mor Mukut & Manoj Kumar - as a TRIBUTE to MAIHAR from JHARKHAND. Tabla accompaniment would be provided by Shashanka Bakshi. Well-known musicians Esha Bandyopadhyay & Partha Bose would be anchoring the event, which promises to evoke nostalgia of Jugalbandi baaj and offer a closer look at two maestros in the making.
